Easy Steps to Replace Your Refrigerator Water Filter

Most filters should be replaced every 6 months or according to your refrigerator’s guidelines. Follow this step-by-step guide to easily replace your refrigerator water filter. We know that many fridges have a different location for their water filters. Some are located within the fridge itself and others can be located at the bottom of the fridge door. If you’re having trouble identifying where your’s is be sure to google your model and it should be able to tell you where it’s located. We’ve also listed some of the various locations below. Check Your Owner’s Manual: Locate the filter model and replacement instructions specific to your refrigerator.

Common Locations: Filters are often found inside the refrigerator compartment, in the upper right corner, or at the base grille (near the bottom of the fridge).

Replacement Filter: Ensure it’s compatible with your refrigerator model.

Towel or Small Container: To catch any drips when removing the old filter.

Check Manufacturer Guidelines: Some models require shutting off the water supply before replacing the filter. Locate the shut-off valve (usually behind the refrigerator or under the sink) and turn it off.

Locate the Filter: Open the compartment or locate the filter on the grille.

Unlock the Filter:

Push-In Filters: Press the button or twist counterclockwise to release.

Pull-Out Filters: Twist counterclockwise and gently pull the filter out.

Discard the Old Filter: Place it in a trash bag to avoid spills.

Remove Packaging: Take the new filter out of its box and remove any protective caps or seals.

Twist-In Filters: Insert and twist clockwise until it’s secure.

Check for Leaks: Ensure no water is dripping from the filter compartment.

Verify the Reset: Confirm the filter indicator light has turned off or changed color.
